Introducing our team spanning from Porthcawl/Bridgend to Newport offices covering Swansea, Cardiff, West Wales, Abergavenny and Bristol compiling over 75 years experience between us. We strive too work for you creatively, technically and to do our best to provide project overseeing delivering the design you care about and need. Nothing is too small or big to help achieve the right design and communication is king. The friendliness and heart of sleeve approach has helped us win many new project as well as retaining existing clients.
Richard Andrews
Principal Architect
Richard Andrews’ 21-year career in the construction industry has given him a wealth of practical experience which, together with his architectural expertise and unswerving commitment to each project, represents a particularly winning combination for his clients.
Richard began his career with Andrews Gay & Partners, Barry in 1992 and gained an ONC in Construction. In 2007 he became fully qualified as an architect, and maintains this with professional membership of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).
He has experience in many sectors spanning Education, Residential, Extra Care, Office, Leisure and Retail. Richard has worked for such reputable firms as Chapman Taylor, Boyes Rees, Atkins Global and Ainsley Gommon.All of this valuable experience has influenced Richard, making him into the modern and creative architect he is today.
Lewis Shaw
Associate
Lewis wanted to become an architect after becoming inspired by the Gaudi architecture in Barcelona in his teenage years. He completed his Part 1 architecture studies at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, and went on to gain his Part 2 Professional Diploma in Architecture and the Centre for Alternative Technology, in Machynlleth Mid Wales and has a gained a strong grounding in sustainable architecture as a result of this unique experience.
Since joining the team at Richard Andrews Architects, Lewis has worked on the competition winning entry for the waterfront activities centre at Barry, Pwynt Hwylio. He has also produced detailed drawings for two doctors surgery schemes, large social housing schemes and worked on a number of new houses and residential extensions.
Lewis is on course to become a fully qualified and Chartered Architect by working towards his Part 3 qualification in the near future.
Antonella Mariani
Architectural Assistant
Antonella completed her studies in Italy and became an Architect in 2015. Her master dissertation studied the ex-paper mill redevelopment in Rome and the relationship between abandoned industrial areas and the surround city.
She has always shown a strong passion for architecture and design. She also has a particular interest in eco-building and residential development.
Antonella has experience working with several graphical and rendering software packages. She has been working as architectural assistant in Wales for the past few years and aims to make full use of her skills and experience at Richard Andrews Architects.
Estera Kelner
ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT
Estera joined RA Architects in 2021, following the completion of her Part II studies at Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff. She obtained her experience working on variety of project in Wales and England covering the residential, commercial, education and interior design.
Since joining RA Architects she has been working on residential and retirement living projects enhancing her passion for making positive change to people’s lives and environment that they are live in.
She takes her inspiration from her interest in sustainable design. Estera aims to become a fully qualified Architect by working towards her Part 3 qualification in the near future.
Dominic Phillips
ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
Dominic joined the team in September 2022 as a newly graduated Architectural Technologist from University Of The West of England (UWE). Dom was brought in to gain experience under the wing of Richard and the Porthcawl office. Dom has good knowledge of an array of CAD software and is expanding his knowledge at every opportunity.
In his spare time Dom enjoys going to the gym and on the weekends, you will find him playing football for his local team.
Rebecca Jenkins
ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
Rebecca is a Architectural Technologist with 20 years’ experience and a degree in Architectural Technology and Design. All qualifications were obtained alongside working full time within the Industry.
She has worked on a variety of projects and has wide ranging experience in many aspects of architecture, predominately housing, working on anything from small garage conversions to large bespoke million-pound houses. She has a strong technical background and is not scared of a challenge. Experience also includes small sports facilities, warehouses, and commercial refurbishments.
Away from the office Rebecca is a dedicated Mum of two and enjoys hiking, In the past two years she has competed two marathon Mighty Hikes for Cancer Research.
Lois Weedon
Architectural Assistant
Lois is the newest member of our team having joined the company in August 2023. She graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Architecture from the University of Bath and since being with us has assisted on a number of projects from housing schemes to 3D visuals.
Lois has always had a deep appreciation for art, which started early in her education and grew into a strong passion for architecture during her A-level studies. This admiration for architecture continued to deepen as she traveled across Europe during her interrail and road trip adventures; exploring new places and fully immersing herself in the world of art and architecture.
Lois aims to gain invaluable experience with RA Architects with the intention of completing her Part 2 architectural studies in the near future.
