Meet The Team

Richard Andrews’ 21-year career in the construction industry has given him a wealth of practical experience which, together with his architectural expertise and unswerving commitment to each project, represents a particularly winning combination for his clients.

Richard began his career with Andrews Gay & Partners, Barry in 1992 and gained an ONC in Construction. In 2007 he became fully qualified as an architect, and maintains this with professional membership of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).

He has experience in many sectors spanning Education, Residential, Extra Care, Office, Leisure and Retail. Richard has worked for such reputable firms as Chapman Taylor, Boyes Rees, Atkins Global and Ainsley Gommon.All of this valuable experience has influenced Richard, making him into the modern and creative architect he is today.

Originally from Italy, Antonella completed her architecture studies in 2015, graduating from Sapienza University of Rome. Her final year research project focused on the redevelopment of a derelict paper mill, built in circa 1850 on the outskirts of Rome, exploring not only the complex relationship between abandoned industrial sites and their surrounding urban fabric, but also the opportunity to transform these structures into vibrant community hubs.

Antonella joined RA Architects in 2016 and has since worked on a diverse range of projects. She has gained extensive experience in British Building Standards as well as a strong understanding of planning policies and Building Regulations, ensuring that projects are not only well-designed but also fully compliant with the latest construction standards.

Passionate about architecture and design, Antonella has developed a special interest in residential developments, including extensions, layout reconfigurations and bespoke new-build homes. She especially values the direct collaboration with clients, enjoying the process of understanding their needs and bringing their visions to life. With a keen eye for detail and a thoughtful approach to design, Antonella is dedicated to creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces that enhance the way people live. Her ability to translate client aspirations into thoughtfully designed architecture makes her a valuable asset to the team.

Outside of work, Antonella enjoys exploring cultural and historic landmarks of her adopted country, often visiting market towns and sites of historical interest across Wales and England.

Dominic joined the team in September 2022 as a newly graduated Architectural Technologist from University Of The West of England (UWE). Dom was brought in to gain experience under the wing of Richard and the Porthcawl office. Dom has good knowledge of an array of CAD software and is expanding his knowledge at every opportunity.

In his spare time Dom enjoys going to the gym and on the weekends, you will find him playing football for his local team.

Rhys is a professionally qualified Architectural Technician/ CAD Technician, with 20+ years’ experience in a drawing office environment: who specialises in the application of technology in Architecture. An Integral part of a design team assisting in the preparation of technical drawings, responsible for supporting a wide range of Architectural projects across the UK from concept to completion.

A Highly responsive person who can work under pressure and adapt to a variety of situations. Professional abilities include consistent and high-quality work and to be client focused and proactive. Key personal qualities include enthusiasm, commitment, and flexibility.

Outside of the working environment, Rhys is an active individual who regularly takes part in 10k runs. Regularly attends the gym to pursue a healthy lifestyle.  Sports mad person both observing & participating with particular interest in rugby, cricket, and football.  Loves to read, from crime thrillers to sport autobiographies. Also, an interest in Numismatics, the collection and study of currency, including old coins and paper money and objects of similar of form or purpose.

Ben joined RA Architects in September 2024 having recently graduated with a BSc in architecture at the University of Wales Trinity St David.

Bens’s love for architecture and design has been growing since he was in school, developing throughout secondary and into university, allowing him to be where he is today. Through traveling and continued learning Ben strives to improve and develop his knowledge in both the profession and built environment.

Ben also aims to progress in his studies and journey to becoming an architect by completing his part 2 architectural studies in the near future.

In his spare time Ben enjoys running, cycling and pretty much anything that will get him out the house and into some fresh air.
