We were instructed by a couple who had struggled for the past few years with their small kitchen area. They entertain a lot of family and friends and want a fresh look into the space.
When we were instructed, we first looked at opening up the kitchen to allow for a kitchen island as it becomes a central hub while cooking and entertaining. As the open plan space became larger and longer, we then looked at how we would introduce more light into the space. We thoughts about a flat roof option with roof lanterns, but then while exploring in 3D, we believed the lean-to roof option made the space seem larger with the help of 2/3 rooflights.
All the design would fall under the permitted rights rules meaning no planning permission would be needed. But we always suggest a Certificate of Proposed Lawful Development, a legal document which will confirm in writing whether planning permission is required for a proposed development.
We are close to finalising the design and will submit the certificate.
Stay tuned for more!
