Work is well underway on the transformation of a beautiful Grade II* listed building in the heart of Cowbridge, delivered in collaboration with our client, Coker Design and Build.
We were initially appointed to carry out detailed surveys and develop a sensitive design scheme to convert the derelict former restaurant into four high-quality residential flats. To maintain the building’s connection to the High Street and support the local economy, we also designed a commercial space at the frontage — preserving its historic role within the town centre.
Each of the new homes benefits from private parking at the rear, as well as dedicated amenity spaces, offering a blend of modern living and heritage character.
Our involvement continues through the next phase of the project, as we prepare detailed construction drawings and work closely with Heritage Officers, Structural Engineers, and M&E Consultants. Our shared focus is on ensuring that every design decision meets high quality standards while also protecting and celebrating the historic fabric of this important building — some elements of which have stood for centuries.
This project is a great example of how thoughtful design and collaboration can breathe new life into historic structures, securing their future and ensuring they remain a valued part of the community.
