To create additional workshop, breakout, and meeting spaces withing one of the atriums of the existing Bath University campus, the challenge is to maintain natural daylight to the existing spaces and seamlessly link the new areas with existing circulation routes and spaces.
We used a glass roof and suspended bridge walkways to cut though the three-storey space and allow natural light to flood down through the building into both existing and new spaces. This project is in early feasibility stages but with think it will make a huge difference to the student experience when it goes ahead.
