The concept for the scheme was born from a response to the site context. The building faces south in horseshoe configuration, maximising natural day light and sunshine into the primary spaces such as living rooms, and bedrooms; with the service accommodation; offices, kitchens, toilets etc. on the darker northern side of the building.
Unique spaces including a sensory room, multi-use space and gentle staircase with landing seats will help the residents safely use the building and provide different elements of therapy to help support their disabilities. Curves and soft edges have been incorporated to enhance the safety and welcoming feel of the rooms and circulation areas.
