We are excited to be involved in a proposed project that brings together contemporary design and heritage sensitivity — a striking two-storey glass extension for a popular Italian restaurant located within the Bridgend Town Conservation Area.
The design aims to rejuvenate the riverside frontage along the Ogmore River, transforming this underused area into a vibrant public space. With its transparent, glass-walled structure, the extension will create a seamless visual connection between the restaurant interior and the scenic riverfront, offering guests panoramic views and a memorable dining experience.
This bold architectural intervention will not only enhance the restaurant’s presence but also serve as a beacon within the conservation area — drawing both locals and visitors to explore and enjoy the riverfront. The project is designed to activate the public realm, boost pedestrian footfall, and foster a stronger sense of community in the heart of Bridgend.
Beyond its immediate visual and functional benefits, the scheme supports wider urban development goals. By acting as a catalyst for future improvements along the Ogmore River, the extension contributes to a long-term vision of a lively, pedestrian-friendly destination that enriches the town’s cultural and social fabric.
Blending modern architecture with respect for historical context, this project represents a thoughtful step forward in the revitalisation of Bridgend’s riverside — enhancing both place and purpose for the community.
