Blaenafon House forms an important part of the towns heritage, which will be celebrated and regenerated. Many visitors are attracted to Blaenafon by virtue of its World Heritage status, many coaches from across Europe travel through the eastern valley to visit the heritage sites, including Big Pit and the Ironworks. The visitors often travel to Blaenafon, but do not stay in the town. This project provides a great opportunity to create a hotel where these visitors can not only stay but have a great experience and engage with the wider town and its businesses. The vision is twofold; one to protect the history and importance of Blaenafon house, which has fallen into a state of disrepair.
By finding a viable use for the building the heritage that it affords can be retained for future generations and the site will remain viable. Two is to create a destination hotel that will bolster the wider town and increase both local trade and tourism trade. We are proposing to extend the existing building and to also create a new build element in the grounds to sustain the hotel with the number of rooms and facilities required to make it a success.
