Our Clients Say
We contacted Richard Andrews Architects initially for their free 1 hour consultation to discuss having a 2 storey side extension to our existing house. We were visited by Lewis Shaw who listened to our ideas / requirements. He explained the various stages in carrying out the survey, designing the plans through to the tendering stage to implement the contract for building the extension. We found Lewis very approachable and interested in our project and so we decided to use the services of RA Architects. Over the next few weeks Lewis surveyed, designed the plans for the extension and kept us informed of developments during the planning stages through to tendering. Lewis was always happy to make any slight adjustments to the design and specifications which we asked for and went the extra mile for us. I found everyone at RA Architects team to be friendly and helpful when contacting them and also felt we were a valued client.
I would highly recommend Richard Andrews Architects to my friends and would like to thank Lewis Shaw personally for all he did for us during this building extension project.

Steffan John – Druidstone Road, Old St Mellons
My dilemma was I needed an architect, artist and innovative thinker to put onto paper my idea to develop an underground events venue which also has to meet all the legislation criteria. Discovering Richard Andrews has been like winning the jackpot. Nothing is too much trouble and the results are fantastic all made better because Richard is such a pleasure to work with.
Peter Dale – Groomes Events Centre, Borden
My wife and I were contemplating having an extension added to our property. I met Richard Andrews around 6 months ago through a local football team, recently learning of his profession as an architect. I had an informal discussion regarding what my wife and I had in mind for property. I then asked Richard to take on the job of providing the plans. He visited my home, where we had an in depth talk f what I wanted, before he spent a few hours taking all required measurements. Richard explained everything clearly, and was very professional in his approach. The drawings provided gave a clear visual of what the finished build would look like, and was detailed. After the plans were submitted to planning, Richard maintained regular contact, providing me with updates. As a result of Richards work, planning was recently approved. I would highly recommend Richard to anyone seeking the services of an architect.
Steve Verrinder – Pilton Vale, Newport
We owned a large detached house in a conservation area which we wanted to separate in to two semis.
Once we had the idea of dividing the house in to two separate properties it was a case of contacting architects to see the way forward. The first few architects we met were all for the idea but kept putting barriers in our way with regards to building regulations planning etc that made our initial thoughts cost prohibited.
Then by chance we met Richard. What a breath of fresh air. He visited our home, where we had an in-depth talk of what we wanted and immediately understood what we wanted to achieve. He spent a few hours taking all required measurements so that he could come up with suggestions and alternatives for the use of the available space. Richard explained everything clearly and was very professional in his approach. The drawings provided gave a clear visual of what the finished build would look like, showing imaginative design to maximise the potential of the project. After we agreed the plans Richard submitted them to planning ensuring that the process was trouble free for us. Richard also arranged a meeting with building regulation consultants who oversaw the change of use building work and signed off the job.
We would highly recommend Richard to anyone seeking the services of an architect.
Keith and Sue Greenslade – Newport
I found RA Architects through a Google search and took a chance as the business was pretty new.
I was immediately impressed by Richard's professionalism and his ideas. He listened to how we wanted to use our extension and came back with a number of options to talk through.
Once we had agreed a design and a cost Richard and Lewis took away all the pain – they drew up the planning application, produced the tender documents and sourced a number of contractors for us to meet and submit a tender. It was reassuring to know that the people tendering were approved by Richard and had all the necessary insurances and track record in place.
We decided on TLC Building Services from Cardiff and we couldn't have been happier. Tim and his team were a perfect fit for us and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. They worked tirelessly to build an extension we love and did so with good humour – they were a joy to have around.
Richard and Lewis visited at regular intervals to inspect the project, again taking away any stress.
Throughout the process RA Architects exceeded our expectations and I will use them again for any future projects I undertake.
